Introducing...
Have you ever felt, that the Explorer in Microsoft® Windows® XP is pretty nice to work with under normal circumstances, but that it sometimes lacks some of the comfort that the File Manager in the old days of Windows® 3.1 or even DOS provided?
Have you ever searched for a file in a list of some 500 files whose extension you knew for sure was e.g. ".CDR", but you could not quite remember the name of the application you would have to look for in the "Type" field of the Explorer's detail view?
Have you ever been looking in the Windows® Registry for the name of a file located in "Program Files", but could not find it, because the Registry entry used the short filename "Progra~1" instead?
Did you ever try to make a backup of your running Windows® XP
installation, started the copy process and went away to have a cup of coffee
while your PC was doing the work? Did it do the work? No?
Most certainly, some minutes after you left, the Explorer will have come up with
a message box, saying, that some file could not have been accessed, and asking
you what to do. Unfortunately, you were not there to answer the question, so
you have to make this one mouse click and wait another hour...and so on...
Do you sometimes use the DOS command window of Windows® to get things done?
